2008 Honda Accord EX Review

I've had my car for a week an 2 days now and I absolutely love it. 1099 miles have gone by so quickly and ever so comfortably. Yes I know that's alot to drive in 9 days, but it's fun to take trips in such an excellent car.

Other than a few cons I absolutely love this car. I test drove a few and it was a no brainer when it came to this one. Thanks Consumer Reports for helping me with my decision. I waited for their complete review of this car before I even test drove the car. The entire Honda purchasing went exceptionally well. The process was so streamlined I could not believe it. It was not an all Saturday afternoon fiasco like my last car purchase. Honda even does a survey a week after purchase so they can get feedback on how they're doing. I see why they have such excellent owner satisfaction and make such great cars. Kudos to Mikal Willams at Nalley Honda for the stellar service. Despite some of the reports there is a trip computer. I don't think that most have even tested it.

Rail Network TV runs linux

I took these shots on a MARTA train this morning. The Rail Network provides tv and radio on trains around the US. It somehow crashed overnight and runs linux. It kept rebooting to a bash shell.

X10 IR10 iconRemote Review

My first impulse remote control buy. I'm on the fence after a week of using it. It was supposed to replace all my remotes (tv, cable, dvd, surround) but I still need to pick up my old remotes every so often because the remote has either failed to learn the remote code or fails to transmit the code learned. I think that I could have found a Harmony 880 Remote in a superstore for $129 if I would have waited a little longer. I'll hope and pray that this remote morphs into something that I want it to be.

Review

Unboxing the remote you are presented with a hefty remote with alot of well aligned buttons. Batteries are included!! Pop in the batteries and you're presented with a wizard to setup your device(s) and you're on your way. Within a minute, I had my tv, cable box, dvd, and surround sound setup. There is no learning curve as you simply follow the instructions on the lcd. No need for a computer and usb cable for remote codes. Granted I did not receive a manual in my shipment; only a one page quick reference guide. I'm glad that X10 is appeciative of my high level thinking.

I ran into some problems after using the learn feature. If I programmed the soft keys at the top of the remote with a learned code and then tried to use that key it would not work. I don't know if this was user error or a device error. Hard keys always worked. I'll perform a master clear over the weekend and try again and call X10 if that doesn't work.

The DVR functions of my Motorola Cablebox did not work. I was about 5 seconds into learning the rewind button when it dawned on me that it might be another code for motorola dvr cable boxes and indeed there was one that worked with my box.

In the FAQ for the device it reads this:

Q: Can I control X10 lights and appliances with the iconRemote?
A: Yes! All you need is the Infrared Mini-Controller and it will control your X10 gear too!

I've tried but failed in getting X10 IR codes to transmit from the remote. I've made a tv device with the default code 999 and 998 for X10 and nothing seems to work. I'll call X10 about this one.

Macros are another feature that I have not tried but from the manual it looks like it was poorly designed.

Overall I'll give it a 7/10. It saves me from using 4 remotes but I do have to pull it out for some select features that can't be learned on my remotes.

*Load skype on all your computers

*Get a Skype Gateway or Cordless Skype Phone

March 28-30: Ovulation and Attempted Mating
After hormone levels indicated ovulation was approaching, the pair was put together to allow breeding to take place. Although Yang Yang and Lun Lun both exhibited normal behaviors, attempts at mating were unsuccessful this year. Zoo Atlanta staff believed the behavior observed was encouraging for future mating attempts.
March 29 & 30: Artificial Insemination
After determining that the pair was unlikely to successfully breed this year because of behavioral inexperience, Zoo Atlanta employed artificial insemination. This procedure has resulted in many giant panda pregnancies and has no effect on future natural efforts to reproduce. Fresh semen was collected from Yang Yang for insemination.
March 31 � August 6: Tracking Possible Pregnancy and Preparation for Birth
Zoo Atlanta continued hormone tracking, recording behavior and used ultrasound to detect a possible pregnancy as well as prepared the nursery for potential birth(s).
August 7: Birth Watch
Zoo Atlanta initiated 24-hour watch based on hormonal changes that are consistent with pregnancy and pseudo-pregnancy, a phenomenon in which the behavioral and hormonal signs of pregnancy are exhibited but the female panda is not actually pregnant. Lun Lun continued to show normal activity and received her usual diet (bamboo and high fiber biscuits) until August 12 when her activity level began to decrease. This is normal for both pregnancy and pseudo-pregnancy."

When your dad is a control freak and wants to control every aspect of your life. You have to record an album in secret and use your own money.
